On some weeknight evenings, the craving lands on something specific… Tiramisu. Espresso, cocoa and soft, warm cake. This tiramisu cottage cheese mug cake takes five minutes, one ramekin, and it tastes exactly like what the name says.

At 15.1g of protein and 6.5g of net carbs per serving, it fits high-protein low-carb eating. Five minutes means the craving gets answered before it finds something else.

Tiramisu is one of those desserts that gets quietly dropped from the rotation when you eat high protein low carb. Not because you wanted to give it up, just because the traditional tiramisu version was never going to fit. This one does.

The base is cottage cheese and egg. Once it bakes with espresso powder and cocoa, the flavor disappears entirely. What you get is coffee, chocolate, and soft cake - the tiramisu flavor, ready in five minutes instead of an afternoon. Single-serve is the right size here, too. If you are the only one in your house eating high protein low carb, a recipe that makes exactly enough means one dessert, one bowl to clean, and done when you are done.

The texture is soft and warm, closer to a chocolate espresso cake than a classic layered tiramisu. It settles as it cools, so eat it immediately. I serve mine with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Warm cake against cold ice cream - that contrast is the part that makes it feel complete, the kind you want a second bite of, which is fine because there is a whole ramekin.

Most mug cake recipes call for 90 seconds. There is a specific reason that timing does not work here, and a preparation step before the batter goes in that changes how the cake releases. Both are in the paid section below.
