My go-to everything bagel cottage cheese toast
A high-protein low-carb keto cottage cheese toast for quick savory breakfasts, brunches, snacks, or light lunches.
Everything bagel cottage cheese toast has become one of my favourite quick high-protein keto breakfasts because it is simple, savory, and much more satisfying than it looks.
It’s ready in 5 minutes or less and has 23g of protein and 7.6g of net carbs per serving. It helps me get more protein in the morning, which matters to me because a higher-protein breakfast tends to keep me fuller and makes the rest of the day feel easier food-wise.
I usually make it for breakfast or brunch on days when I want something warm, salty, and satisfying but don’t want to cook. It works especially well when sweet breakfast ideas sound unappealing, eggs feel repetitive, or I need an easy low-carb meal that feels like real food rather than just a snack.
Built on my cottage cheese mug bread, this toast also works well for a quick brunch, light lunch, or one of those in-between moments when I need proper food but don’t want to think too hard about what to make.
If you like easy breakfasts you can repeat, my FUEL: High-Protein Keto Breakfasts You Can Repeat ebook includes 47 recipes for busy mornings, with both sweet and savory options made from real food.
Why I keep coming back to it
Some recipes are nice in theory, but not all that practical when real life is busy.
Everything bagel cottage cheese toast is the opposite.
It is especially useful if you:
want more savory high-protein keto breakfast ideas
need a quick low-carb brunch or lunch
want to use cottage cheese in a way that feels more interesting
are trying to avoid random snacking between meals
like easy meals you can repeat without getting fed up
The reason I keep coming back to it is simple: it feels like real food, not a backup option.
You get creamy cottage cheese, everything bagel flavour, and a high-protein toast base that makes the whole thing feel much more satisfying than it looks.
What makes this toast work
The base makes the biggest difference here.
I usually make everything bagel cottage cheese toast on my keto cottage cheese mug bread because it keeps the toast high protein, low carb, and much more filling than it looks. It also makes the whole thing feel more like a proper meal instead of just a topping on toast.
That said, you don’t have to use my mug bread. You can use any bread you like, including a high-protein or low-carb bread, but the macros will be different if you swap the base.

Once the bread is ready, the rest is very simple.
A layer of full-fat cottage cheese adds creaminess and extra protein, and the everything bagel seasoning brings that salty, garlicky, seeded flavour that makes the toast taste like more than the sum of its parts.
I usually blend the cottage cheese first, so it turns smooth and spreadable rather than lumpy. I usually blend it when I buy it and keep it ready in the fridge.
When I usually eat it
I usually make everything bagel cottage cheese toast for breakfast or brunch, but it is useful well beyond that.
It works especially well if you need:
a quick savory breakfast before work
an easy high-protein brunch that does not feel heavy
a fast low-carb lunch
an afternoon snack that feels more satisfying than just grabbing bits from the fridge
a simple meal for days when you don’t want to properly cook
That is why I value recipes like this so much. They are not just tasty. They solve a real-life food problem.
How I like to serve it
On its own, everything bagel cottage cheese toast works well as a simple breakfast, brunch, or snack.
If I want to turn it into more of a full high-protein meal, it goes really well with:
boiled eggs
turkey slices
chicken breast
smoked salmon
cucumber slices
cherry tomatoes
pickle spears
That gives me an easy way to adjust it depending on how hungry I am.
A few small details that help
A couple of small details make this recipe even better.
I like to toast the mug bread lightly before adding the topping because it gives a better texture and helps it hold the cottage cheese more nicely.
I also start light with the everything bagel seasoning, because some blends are much saltier than others.
And this toast is definitely best eaten fresh. Once topped, the bread starts to soften, so it is nicest when made and eaten straight away.
